Yang saya ketahui mengenai competitive advantage menurut Kotler (1996) adalah keunggulan dibandingkan dengan pesaing yang diperoleh dengan menyampaikan nilai yang lebih besar pada pelanggan, harga yang lebih murah atau dengan menyediakan lebih banyak manfaat yang sesuai walaupun dengan harga yang lebih tinggi. Jadi, intinya adalah daya saing suatu perusahaan dalam menawarkan keuntungan dari suatu produk atau jasa yang dijual dibandingkan dengan pesaing lainnya dalam rangka mendapatkan pelanggan.
